HOW TO TELL IF EGGS ARE FRESH or TRASH

The most-liked post on Instagram is the World Record Egg. If you enjoy eggs, here’s a question: How can you tell if your eggs are fresh or trash? There are a few ways to test it. But here’s one easy rule of thumb.

Drop them into fresh, cold water.

• FRESH EGGS. Fresh eggs stay at the bottom, on their sides. That’s because they have less air inside. These eggs are ideal for frying or scrambling.
• TILTED EGG. If an egg is at the bottom but tilted at an angle, it’s a little older but still considered fresh and edible.
• STANDING EGG. The egg at the bottom that’s standing on its pointed end is still safe to eat. But it’s best used for baking or making hard-boiled eggs.
• A FLOATING EGG is old and stale. It’s better not to eat it, unless it’s from the Wyandotte breed since their eggs float even when fresh. But they’re not commonly sold in in supermarket stores.

So good egg or bad egg? Now you know.
